Our Products

Our sanitary pads are made from banana fiber. It is not only 50 percent more absorbent than materials used in regular sanitary pads, but also biodegrades into compost in just three months. In addition, our pads do not come in contact with any harmful chemicals throughout the whole production process, keeping the risk of infections or Toxic Shock Syndrome at a minimum. At the same time, they're more environmentally friendly than organic pads created from cotton farming, which consumes millions of gallons of water. During manufacturing, no bleach or chemicals are used, and growing banana plants consumes six times less water than of cotton production.

Our pads consist of three layers. The topmost is a fluid-permeable layer that draws liquid away from the skin into the pad. The middle layer is an absorbent core that absorbs and retains the fluid.  And the bottommost is a barrier that prevents liquid from staining and leakage.

The Unavailability of Organic and Safe Menstrual Hygiene Products

A lack of menstrual hygiene products is a major world problem because menstruating without proper protection have detrimental effects on women and girls:

1. Studies from the World Bank show that periods cause girls to be absent from school for at least one month annually.

2. Menstruating without proper hygiene products also causes girls to suffer from infections and diseases like cervical cancer, according to Smithsonian Magazine. In fact, the BBC reports that approximately 70% of all reproductive diseases are caused by poor menstrual hygiene.

3. Unfortunately, many women have resorted to desperate measures to protect themselves, such as by using rags or dirt during menstruation - materials that are clearly not suited to be a menstrual hygiene product.

4. Over half of the female population in Africa engages in sex to get access to sanitary products, causing teen pregnancies.
